For over 20 years, Per-Anders Sunesson has worked in both Sweden and internationally to address social justice issues. In 2016, Mr. Sunesson was appointed Sweden’s Ambassador at Large for Combating Trafficking in Persons, with a mandate to cover all forms of human trafficking, including sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. Previously, he served as Director General at The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and as Director for the Department of Supervision of all healthcare institutions, healthcare personnel and social services in Sweden.
“Countries must put a lot more effort into reducing demand for human beings to exploit as cheap labour or as sex slaves in prostitution. It is well documented that where prostitution is legal, demand will be high and organized crime and human trafficking will flourish.”
