Sexually abused as a child by family members and in foster care, Michelle Soncrant was again sexually assaulted by a drill sergeant after her enlistment in the military. Made vulnerable by trauma, Ms. Soncrant fell prey to a trafficking syndicate at age 19 and remained ensnared in “the life” for over a decade. Owned by–and forced to serve in–multiple sex trafficking syndicates, Ms. Soncrant was prostituted to buyers that included political leaders, professional athletes, and CEOs. Finding a path to recovery in 2010 which she credits to her faith in Christ, Ms. Soncrant went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Substance Abuse Counseling. Today, she helps other trafficking survivors in her work at The Switch and as president of UOWE, a non-profit based in the Ohio city where she was first trafficked.
