Santiago Perez Navarro

Labor Trafficking Survivor

Santiago Perez Navarro

Santiago Perez Navarro came to the United States from Mexico seeking a better life for himself and his family. His horrifically abusive employer, however, forced him to work 12 to 14 hours a day, six days a week, often without pay, made him have sex with her, and forced him to go to a “witch doctor,” where he was shown horrific animal sacrifices and told, “if you don’t obey everything that I ask you to do, this will happen to you as well.” Mr. Perez Navarro felt helpless, scared, and lost. After three years in servitude, with the help of CSA San Diego County and the FBI, he finally escaped and today has a working visa.

“I don’t want anyone else to suffer what I suffered. Working together, we can accomplish anything we want because this is what makes us stronger.”
