A survivor of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, Anne Marie Jones is now a Peer Specialist at Dawn’s Place, a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of women trapped by, or at risk for, commercial sexual exploitation, by providing them with housing, trauma recovery services, vocational training, and other services. As a peer specialist, Ms. Jones supports residents throughout their recovery process, using a program she specifically tailored to help those exiting prostitution. Given her own experience as a trafficking survivor, as a former resident of Dawn’s Place, and as a graduate of Philadelphia’s First Judicial District’s Project Dawn Court—a treatment court for women who have been sexually exploited and prostituted—she brings a unique and valued perspective to her work. Ms. Jones has dedicated her life to advocating against the exploitation and trafficking of women and girls and supporting other women through their recovery, and recently co-authored a book soon to be published entitled A Shield Against the Monster.
