Ingibjorg Gisladottir

Ingibjorg Gisladottir, Director of ODIH, has more than 35 years’ leadership experience working on human rights and women’s rights, having previously served as the United Nations Women’s Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia and Country Representative to both Turkey and Afghanistan. Early on in her political career Ms. Gisladottir was a founding member of the Women’s Party in Iceland, which lay the foundation for Iceland’s remarkable progress in gender equality, and thereafter served as Mayor of the City of Reykjavik, a member of Parliament, Chairperson and Leader of the Social Democratic Alliance, and Iceland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.
